USMNT 40 Tracker: Dwyer breaks out with pair of goals

With Jordan Morris and now Bobby Wood both injured, Dom Dwyer picked the right time to show off his finishing. He scored twice and assisted on a third goal as Orlando City tied Atlanta United, 3-3. The goals were Dwyer's first since his trade from Sporting Kansas City.

Wood became the latest U.S. national team starter to be sidelined as he was missing from the Hamburg squad for Friday's Bundesliga match against Hannover 96.

Bild reported Wood, who had the tying goal in the USA's 1-1 tie against Honduras, is out with a knee problem and had been suffering from the injury in HSV's match last Friday against RB Leipzig. The German tabloid attributed the injury to "probably an overload after the exhausting international tour with the USA."

At this point, the injury is not expected to keep Wood out of action for long. HSV hopes to have him available on Wednesday when it faces unbeaten Borussia Dortmund.

England. DeAndre Yedlin played his first game since Newcastle United's promotion to the EPL, starting in the Magpies' 2-1 win over Stoke City.

Other Americans in Europe: Andrija Novakovich, on loan from English club Reading had a goal and assist in Telstar's 3-2 victory over Den Bosch. The 20-year-old forward has scored in back-to-back games.

Yes of course it was the two games with the US (one of which he was a sub for) that caused the injury.

Dwyer will be a good replacement for Wood if need be. He certainly looked a handful Saturday for our makeshift defense.
