What They're Saying: Bruce Arena

"What do you think I should do? Right then and there take them off the field, burn a few substitutions? What happens if four guys take a knee? What do I do? If we need to discuss it, we'll discuss it, but I don't think that's an issue we're going to deal with. We've got enough to worry about on Oct. 6 besides kneeling and stuff."

-- U.S. national team coach Bruce Arena, asked what he would do if any of his players chose to kneel before the World Cup qualifier against Panama in Orlando. He said demonstrations by players were "appropriate" but acknowledged that national teams are different than clubs, citing U.S. Soccer's policy that players respect the national anthem. (Goal.com)

I am willing to bet Bruce would not bench anyone over that.

US Soccer hasn't stated what the discipline would be for breaking the rule. I can't see "immediately benching the player" as appropriate action.

I know he wants to win every game. So if they did that the day of the game and he needs them they will play. But after the game he might pick some new guys to play for him. Especially if they did not bother to talk to him about it before the game was played.

Funny the protest was how minorities were treated by the police. I was stopped and frisked as as a kid at least 100 times. They were looking for weapons. The night before we planted any weapons we needed in oil heat fill up pipes every building had one. Or in sewer drains taped. Then the cops could do anything to you and get away with it. So the police were never my favorite people. I even marched in the million man march in Harlem. There was actually only about 25 thousand there that they. I was there because someone there owed us money.

But here is the thing I go to the movies to get away from reality. I go to the Theather to have a good time and forget what's going on in the world. I watch a football game to enjoy the game. I especially like to watch games in sports bars with strangers. The only thing we have in common is the game. I probably have nothing in common with them except the game. I am not interested in anything thing they have to say on politics.

But I am a patriot. I don't won't to see them not honoring the flag or the national anthem. Even buy stuff I would just once buy a tv made in America. When we first went into Iraq they had a party in my local park to honor the soldiers injured who served there. Had someone sing the national anthem at the flag. These vets had some guts. There were guys who lost their legs who would gladly go back if the military would let them. I don't respect a lot of people. The people I respect are firemen and soldiers that is about it. After 9/11 I would see firemen in the local store buying food for their fire house. I started to pick up the check for what they bought. They never wanted me to do it. Then I talked to the manager of the key food and we would split the cost. I thought it was an honor for me to pick up that check. On the protestors I would like to see the flag rapped around their head then let's set the flag on fire. It happened to some of the flag burners during their protests during Vietnam.

Lets wrap around their head and then set on fire? Thats patriotic? Seems like you are more anxious to hurt those protesters than prptect your love for that flag. Should we play the anthem while you do that? Holy Cow.

I did not say I did it, but I knew people who did. That is why we should all unit instead of divide people. Ever been to an occupy Wall Street demo. Some of the same people older white guys are financing black lives matter. I find that a strange coincidence? There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state. The first is the most important.

Here is how anarchist want to take over the country in the 1960s and now.
    1) Healthcare– Control healthcare and you control the people.

    2) Poverty – Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.

    3) Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.

    4) Gun Control– Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.

    5) Welfare – Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income).

    6) Education – Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school.

    7) Religion – Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools.

    8) Class Warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

Agreed with most of it. The country is run by the top few wealthy. They have the money to manipulate everything. Thry have carefuly designed the system to favor them. Republicans and democrats work the same people and are used to make us believe that one is better than the other when it is clear they are similar in most issues when it comes to execution of. We can only differentiate their promises and thats all we really vote on. Not only do they make the poor hate the rich. Thats a given. Thry make the poor hate each other and thats the real secret behind their power. Thry make people believe they are great patriots by sending them to war only to fight for thise few rich assholes greed in taking resources from other countries only to come back and be forgotten. The very definition of dumb.
