What They're Saying: Peter Vermes

“I thought the performance on the field, for a final game like that and everything that you were going for, that game was not representative of a U.S. team on the field — not the way they played. It didn’t have the intensity, didn’t have the desire, the hunger, the fight. It was not good enough. That’s it. That’s all I can tell you.”

-- Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes, often mentioned as a possible national team coach, saying he was devastated and incredibly disappointed by the USA's loss to Trinidad & Tobago that eliminated it from the World Cup. (Kansas City Star)

I agree and I bet so do a lot of people. In my view this is a comment on the team, not on individual performances. For a team sport, it is a fair comment. Players win as a team and lose as a team.
