USA resumes men's action against Portugal in November

Five weeks after being eliminated from the 2018 World Cup, the USA will take on one of the 2018 top seeds, Portugal, in an international men's friendly.

World Cup 2018 seeds:

6. Poland
7. France

The game will be played Nov. 14 at Estadio Algarve in Faro. No plans have yet been announced on whether the USA will play a second game earlier in the November FIFA fixture window that runs Nov. 6-14. U.S. Soccer will announce soon who will coach the squad for this friendly. Portugal will play Saudi Arabia in Leiria on Nov. 10.

The USA and Portugal are 2-2-2 in a series dating back to 1978.

    Why bother. We are a 1970s team now not going to the world cup.

    Yes, too soon. And it's hard to care at this point. My US gear will stay in the closet for the foreseeable future. Go U17s!

    Its an international window, of course you play. Just don't bring the stale anymore.

    Maybe the USMNT can return to the bad old days and lose to Portugal 10-0.  Didn't the US lose to England 10-0 in 1969.
