The defending champion New York Cosmos defeated Puerto Rico FC, 4-1, to gain sole possession of fourth place in the NASL combined standings and the final playoff spot with two games to play.
Ayoze and
Eugene Starikov scored six minute apart late in the first half.
Bledi Bardic made it 3-0 and Ayoze finished the Cosmos' scoring from the penalty spot. The game was
played at Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida.

two points ahead of Jacksonville in the combined standings.
“It was a great result," said Cosmos head coach
Giovanni Savarese. "We needed this result. We did a lot of good
things today, we found the goals with the opportunities, and I’m pleased with the performance.”
The San Francisco Deltas and Miami FC are tied for first place in the fall
standings after their 2-2 tie at Boxer Stadium. They have both clinched playoff spots. North Carolina FC is third in the combined standings and has all but punched a postseason ticket.
