NWSL coaching moves: Denise Reddy returns home to take Sky Blue FC's reins

Washington Spirit assistant coach Denise Reddy has been named the head coach of the NWSL's Sky Blue FC for the 2018 season, replacing Christy Holly, who stepped down in August.

Reddy worked under Jim Gabarra at the Spirit and served as the technical director of its Development Academy program. Gabarra had been the head coach of Sky Blue FC for the first three years in the NWSL.

Reddy, who was at All-American at Rutgers, where Sky Blue FC plays, has played and coached in the United States and Europe.

She spent 10 years in Sweden as a player with Malmo and coached Vittsjo GIK and Linkopping FC in Sweden and B93/HIK/Skjold in Denmark.

Reddy, a UEFA Pro licensed coach, was an assistant coach for Jersey Sky Blue (2006-2008) and the Chicago Red Stars (2008-2010). She joined the Spirit in 2016.

“Words cannot describe how excited and honored I am to be the head coach of Sky Blue FC,” Reddy said. “This is where my coaching career started, and it feels great to be back in Jersey and part of such a professional organization. I am looking forward to starting this journey with such top-class players and cannot wait to get on the pitch.”
