Referee
Bill Maxwell, who officiated the last NASL game in 1984, has died at the age of 87.
Maxwell came to the United States from Scotland in 1970 and immediately became one of the top referees in North America, working college
and pro games.
He was a linesman when the New York Cosmos won their first NASL title in 1972 and was in charge when the Chicago Sting beat the Toronto Blizzard in Game 2 of the 1984
Soccer Bowl.
He later became a full-time referee in the indoor MISL.
A great Scotlands man for US soccer. I am proud of my Scotitish family.
Great referee, added much to the soccer scene in Rochester, NY
