U.S. Abroad Tracker (25 and younger): McKennie's Schalke 04 moves into second place in Bundesliga

Weston McKennie started for Schalke 04 in its 2-0 win over Hamburg that moved it into second place in the Bundesliga, ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference.

It was the second straight game in which the 19-year-old McKennie has played the entire game for Schalke and game five days after he scored in his debut for the USA.

The win sets up a big match on Saturday for Schalke 04 at Christian Pulisic's Borussia Dortmund in the Revierderby.

Pulisic sat out struggling Dortmund's 2-1 loss at VfB Stuttgart with what was described as a muscular problem. Dortmund has four losses and one tie in its last five games after starting out with five wins and a tie. It has fallen to fifth place.

-- Shaq Moore made his first La Liga start for Levante in its 2-0 win at Las Palmas. Juan Pablo Torresdebuted for Belgium's Lokeren.

SATURDAY. In his first season with Monterrey's first team, 18-year-old Jonathan Gonzalez won the Torneo Apertura's first phase on Saturday when the Rayados beat city rival Tigres, 2-0, to clinch the title by a five-point margin.

Monterrey, which only needed a draw to clinch the title, scored on an own goal by Tigres' Juninho and a goal by Aviles Hurtado four minutes apart at the start of the second half.

Gonzalez, who hails from Santa Rosa, California, started 14 games and came on as a sub twice in the 17-round Torneo Apertura. Mexico's La Liga plays split seasons and holds playoffs after each season.

Gonzalez and Leon keeper William Yarbrough will be the only American starters in the Liguilla, as the playoffs are known. A pair of Americans, Jose Torres and Lalo Fernandez, were on the bench for Tigres on Saturday.

A year ago, Tijuana with six Americans on its first team won the Torneo Apertura but lost in the first round of the playoffs, which are all two-leg series.

-- Keaton Parks made his debut for Benfica powerhouse, coming on as sub and helping set up the second goal by Croatian Filip Krovinovic in its 2-0 win over Vitoria Setubal in the Taca de Portugal.

Parks' debut comes a decade after Freddy Adu's short stint at Benfica. The 20-year-old Texan was called up from second division Benfica B after a strong showing in practice.

FRIDAY. Cameron Carter-Vickers, who made his debut for the USA in its 1-1 tie with Portugal on Tuesday, had an assist in Sheffield United's 3-1 win at Burton Albion.
