Wake Forest vs. Stanford: No. 1 vs. two-time defending champs in NCAA Division I men's quarterfinals

Two-time defending champion Stanford set up a date Saturday at top-ranked Wake Forest when it beat Coastal Carolina, 2-0, to move into the NCAA Division I men's quarterfinals.

Stanford won thanks to Tanner Beason's penalty kick in the 50th minute and Foster Langsdorf's goal with 46 seconds to play. The Cardinal is looking to become only the second team after Virginia (1991-94) to win three straight national titles.

Wake Forest clinched a berth into the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over Butler on goals by freshman Brandon Servania and Jon Bakero, the son of former Spanish international Jose Mari Bakero who leads the nation with 16 goals and 14 assists. Both goals were set up by Ghanaian sophomore Ema Twumasi.

No. 4 Louisville ended Colgate's run with a 2-0 win in Sunday's third game. The Cardinals' win meant that the top five seeds all advanced to the final eight for the first time in the history of the NCAA Division I Men's Tournament.
