TV: Viewerships for MLS playoffs on ESPN, ESPN2 and FS1 combined are up 18 percent

With the move of most MLS playoff games from Sundays to weeknights, the combined viewerships on ESPN, ESPN2 and FS1 for the first 14 games are up 18 percent as compared to the same 14 games in 2016.

The 14 games are averaging 257,000 on the English-language networks vs. 218,000 in 2016.

The games on ESPN and ESPN2 are averaging 332,000, up 32 percent from 2016, while the games on FS1 are averaging 183,000, down 1.6 percent.

Every MLS playoff game on ESPN and ESPN2 has outdrawn the corresponding game in 2016. FS1 viewership was way down for the first three games, but the last three games have outdrawn the same games a year ago.

In 2017, only four of the first 12 games on ESPN, ESPN2 and FS1 took place on Sundays. In 2016, nine of the first 12 games aired on Sundays.

How are Canadian viewing figures accounted for; as part of these or not at all?
