USL Moves: Seton Hall's Gerson Echeverry named Rio Grande Valley head coach

Gerson Echeverry, who has served as head coach of Seton Hall men’s program for the last five years, has been named the new head coach of the USL's Rio Grande Valley FC Toros, whom the Houston Dynamo operate.

Etcheverry, 46, worked with the U.S. Soccer U-17 youth national team and residency program under current Dynamo head coach Wilmer Cabrera from 2008-2011.

“He brings a wealth of experience at all levels of soccer in North America, which made him an ideal candidate," said Dynamo vice president and general manager Matt Jordan. "His head coaching experience, work ethic and proven track record of guiding some of the top young talent in the U.S. to the professional ranks will be a big asset for our club moving forward.”

The Dynamo and RGV FC relationship is a hybrid in which the Dynamo controls all aspects of soccer operations, including employment of the technical staff and player selection, while RGV FC manages the business side of the club.
