NWSL Moves: Royals land Icelandic ace Jonsdottir

The Utah Royals made their first international signing since joining the NWSL when they picked up Icelandic midfielder Gunny Jonsdottir.

Jonsdottir, 29, is one of the top goal scorers in Icelandic history and has 48 caps. She played for Toppserien runner-up Valerenga in Norway. She  played one season collegiately at Pepperdine in 2010.

Utah Royals head coach Laura Harvey
: "Gunny is a player that I think will transition well into the NWSL, as she has played at international levels and numerous leagues around Europe. Her experience will be great for the group. Her enthusiasm on the field is infectious. I'm glad we could complete this deal as I think it is another huge statement for our club."
