MLS Moves: Baggio Husidic will return for fifth season with Galaxy

Midfielder Baggio Husidic re-signed with the LA Galaxy for a fifth season. He has made 97 appearances since signing ahead of the Galaxy’s MLS Cup-winning season in 2014 but missed most of last season with a broken leg suffered in May.

Husidic, 30, broke his leg in the first half of a 2-1 victory at Minnesota United. His injury followed the foot injury suffered by Sebastian Lletget in March and knee injury Jermaine Jones suffered two weeks earlier that depleted the Galaxy midfield.

The Galaxy had been unbeaten in the four games, including the Minnesota win, Husidic started. It went undefeated for four more games before collapsing.

The new Husidic deal comes a day after the Galaxy re-signed defender Ashley Cole.

LA Galaxy coach Sigi Schmid. “Baggio has been a very reliable and dependable option for the Galaxy. He has a wealth of MLS experience and has been a leader on this team. We are excited he will continue to be on our roster.”
