Llamosa and Valencia join Savarese on Portland Timbers' staff

Former U.S. World Cup defender Carlos Llamosa and Colombian goalkeeper coach Memo Valencia will join new Portland Timbers head coach Giovanni Savarese on his technical staff after having worked with him at the New York Cosmos.

Llamosa, who represented the USA at the 2002 World Cup, was an assistant for Savarese during four seasons at the Cosmos before he moved to the New England Revolution in 2017. Valencia was with the Cosmos for all five seasons.

Sean McAuley returns to the Timbers as an assistant for his seventh season. Director of sports science Nick Milonas and video/data analyst Shannon Murray will also return.

Jon MacGregor was named the Timbers head athletic trainer. A head physical therapist will be named in the coming weeks.

T2 staff. Cameron Knowles, a Timbers assistant under Caleb Porter, will join T2, the Timbers' USL team, as head coach, and Andrew Gregor will become assistant coach. Adin Brown will work with the first-team and T2 goalkeepers. Steve Reese will continue as the goalkeeper coach for the Timbers' academy teams.
