College coaching moves: Kalish leaves SLSG to take Saint Louis job

Kevin Kalish, vice president at St. Louis Scott Gallagher, the club that produced Josh Sargent, has been named the new head coach at alma mater Saint Louis University.

Kalish played for Scott Gallagher and won the U-19 National Championship and the U-23 national championship on two occasions. He was part of the SLU team that reached the NCAA Division I semifinals in 1997 when he transferred from UConn.

He was an assistant at SLU and SIU-Edwardsville before becoming the SIUE head coach in 2008. He resigned his position at SIUE in 2014 to join the SLSG management staff.

Kalish was instrumental in the creation of the Saint Louis FC Academy and currently coaches the Saint Louis FC Academy U-19 team. He was also the Missouri boys club Ddrector, in charge of player development, club programming, recruitment of players and curriculum development.

Kalish is only the seventh head coach in SLU history and the second alumnus to serve as head coach after Joe Clarke (1983-96).
