What They're Saying: Andrew Wiedeman

"I can strike the hell out of a ball. Unfortunately, the other parts of my game let me down. But if you get me out there in a finishing drill after practice, I’m your man.”

-- Andrew Wiedeman, who spent his career having to live down the words of then-Toronto FC coach Paul Mariner, who touted in trading for Wiedeman that he was “one of the best finishers I've ever seen in the modern era” when the former Cal forward in fact had never scored in eight MLS appearances. Wiedeman has retired at the age of 28 after a career that later took him to the Ottawa Fury and FC Cincinnati. (Toronto Sun)
