Todd Dunivant joins Sac Republic FC as general manager

Former MLS player Todd Dunivant has been named the general manager of the USL's Sacramento Republic FC after serving in a similar role with the San Francisco Deltas, who won an NASL championship in their only season in the league.

Dunivant will be in charge of all aspects of Republic FC's soccer operations, including the first team and Development Academy program. He will handle
technical operations, scouting, recruiting and player contract negotiations.

Sac Republic FC, which is a finalist for an MLS expansion team, won the USL title in 2014, its first year in the league. Graham Smith, who oversaw the technical side of Republic FC since its launch, stepped down as director of football at the age of 70 in November.

Dunivant was an All-American at Stanford and later won five MLS Cups, four with the LA Galaxy (2005, 2011, 2012 and 2014) and one with the San Jose Earthquakes (2003). He made over 300 MLS career appearances with the Quakes, Galaxy (two stints), New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC. His best season came in 2011 when he was a MLS Best XI pick.

Republic FC chairman and CEO Kevin Nagle: “Todd has meaningful experience across all aspects of the game.  From a top player, to team captain and leader, he understands the important and relevant connection that occurs between the players, our club and our fans. He knows that to build a winning culture and philosophy it will take more than identifying and recruiting exceptional talent. It will also take signing players that wear our crest with passion for the sport and love for our region.”
