What They're Saying: Geoff Cameron

“Our names will go down as the team that didn’t qualify. It’s on us as players, but at the end of the day, I’m convinced if they would have kept Jurgen and not done such a drastic change, I think we would have qualified. I know we would have qualified. Instead we’ve gone backward.”

-- Geoff Cameron, on the coaching change from Jurgen Klinsmann to Bruce Arena and the USA's failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, which he blames on decisions made by Arena. Cameron did not start in the last three games after the 2-0 home loss to Costa Rica in which he admitted he had a bad game. (New York Times)

Really Geoff? The Mexico game in New York was an embarassment because the tactics were so bad, the players had to have a discussion during down time with Jurgen to figure out what to do. Then the team got manhandled for a 4 -0 defeat against Costa Rica. Why would anyone think Jurgen was going to recover from that? I beleive that BA made a mistake by going with the same group in the final match because, he had been having success making changes before. The bottom line is, it was that group of players that, didn't get it done and it is time to move on. The ripple effect of that loss was probably needed to grow anyway. Hope that the new president does the right thing in regards to the players that, are lost in our present system.
