U.S. ABROAD (Feb. 24): Tottenham blows opportunity

ENGLAND

* Kasey Keller (Tottenham, PL) vs. Fulham, 1-1.

Started: 90 minutes. Keller was beaten by teammate Ledly King, who deflected Boa Morte's cross into the Tottenham goal. Playing against 10-man Fulham for 35 minutes -- after Fulham keeper Maik Taylor's ejection and before Spurs' Darren Anderton's red card -- Tottenham squandered a chance to move into sixth place and remains in eighth.

Keller has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract extension with Tottenham that would keep him with the club through two more seasons following the 2002-03 campaign.

The Washington native is expected to make his first U.S. national team appearance of the year when the Americans host Japan for in a March 29 friendly in Seattle.

GERMANY

* Jacob Thomas (Braunschweig, D2) at Freiburg, 0-2.

Started: 90 minutes.
