FC Dallas and German champion Bayern Munich and FC Dallas reached an agreement to offer youth players from both clubs a chance to play
at the other club.
FC Dallas players and coaches will be welcomed at the Bayern campus, which opened in August 2017. FC Dallas has signed 10 players to Homegrown contracts. Perhaps its best young player in recent years was Weston McKennie, who signed with Bayern rival Schalke 04 in 2016 and made his Bundesliga debut less than a year later.
Three FC Dallas players went to Bayern for training after the 2017 MLS season: 16-year-old forward Bryan Reynolds, 17-year-old midfielder Paxton Pomykal and 19-year-old Reggie Cannon, who is expected to start at right back for FC Dallas, which open its 2018 season in the Concacaf Champions League next week.
"We are thrilled to join FC Bayern Munich in this groundbreaking collaboration," said FC Dallas chairman and CEO Clark Hunt. "One of our primary goals is to develop an academy and a club that can compete at the highest level on a global scale. This unprecedented partnership with one of the most successful clubs in the world marks a significant step toward that goal, and we look forward to working closely with the outstanding leadership at FC Bayern."
