The North Carolina Courage's Makenzy Doniak
suffered a season-ending knee injury during the first day of preseason training.
The former Virginia star, who had just returned from
playing in Australia, suffered a torn ACL in her left knee and will spend the 2018 season rehabbing with the team.
Doniak joined the Courage after the champion Western New York
moved to North Carolina, and she played in 21 games. She most recently wrapped up a loan spell with Adelaide United for which she scored seven goals in 12 games.
