U.S. U-16 Ricardo Pepi at Mexico camp

FC Dallas academy forward Ricardo Pepi, who attended the mega-camp for U.S. boys national teams in January, has been called up to Mexico's U-16 national team.

Mexico's U-16s will train at the Mexican federation training center in Mexico City for four days and break camp on Friday.

Pepi, who has scored four goals in nine games for the FC Dallas U-16/17 team, hails from El Paso. He is one of many FC Dallas academy players who are from outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, arriving from an El Paso feeder affiliate.

Pepi' story and those of Mexican-Americans from the U.S.-Mexico border in West Texas were the subject of a New York Times feature in 2016.
