GW's Sarah Barnes heads to Miami to take over women's program

George Washington women's head coach Sarah Barnes has been hired as the new head coach at the University of Miami.

Barnes spent six seasons at GW, where she was named the 2015 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. Over her six seasons at GW, Barnes led the Colonials to a 60-41-14 record, including a 48-23-8 record the last four years.

Barnes played at UConn, where she coached for nine seasons, one as a volunteer assistant, seven as an assistant coach and one as the associate head coach. She then spent four seasons as an assistant at Texas.

"She is a proven winner who has been successful as a player, assistant coach and head coach," Miami director of athletics Blake James said. "I am excited about the future of our soccer program under Sarah's guidance."
