U.S. U-18 women go winless in La Manga after tie with Norway

Loren Sefcik  gave the USA a 12th minute lead but Norway came back for a 1-1 tie in the USA's final game at the 12 Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain.

Coach Jaime Frias' U.S. team opened with a 2-2 tie with England and fell to the Netherlands, 6-0. Sefcik, of Ohio's Internationals SC, scored on a header. In the 45th minute, Norway's Jenny Kristine R. Olsen scored into an open net after pouncing on the deflection of a pass by U.S. goalkeeper Claudia Dickey.

Sefcik was one of seven changes Frias made to the starting lineup from the Netherlands game.

The tournament, which the European teams are using to prepare for next month's elite round of U-19 European Championship qualifying, is for players born in 1999 or later. The USA's 22-player roster is comprised of eight players born in 1999 and 14 born in 2000.
