Mexico brings in 12-year-old California phenom for U-15 camp

Alex Alcala, a 12-year midfielder from Stockton, California, is in Mexico City for the Mexican under-15 national team's camp.

With his left foot, the Mexican press has dubbed him the "Messi mexicoamericano."

Alcala, who plays for the Stockton TLJ FC Rebels,  has already trained twice at Manchester City and been at a Barcelona camp.

He is one of two U.S.-based players in the Mexico U-15 camp. The other is goalkeeper Donovan Palomares, who plays in the Los Angeles FC U-14 academy team.

He’s 12 and going to the U- 15 national team camp !  Although way to early to judge if this kid is really that good , it does look like Mexico really wants to take a hard look at him and has the inside track.  Wake up US Soccer !

He is not big enough, strong enough or fast enough for US Soccer.  Forget the skill factor.  Right US Soccer.

Also saw the video, and the kid's got it.  So, yeah US Soccer, wake up!!!!  Say is the other kid Donovan Palomares any relation to Jose Sr and Jose Jr. and Raul Palomares, also from the Los Angeles area?  Gotta ask Todd Saldana of the LAFC Academy!!!

Exciting little player--hope he continues to love the game and develop, no matter where that is.
