TV: Mexican 'Super Clasico' draws largest soccer audience of the year

Saturday's Guadalajara-Club America -- Mexico's "Super Clasico" -- averaged 2.5 million viewers on Univision Network, simulcast on UDN, making it the top-rated soccer event on any network in 2018, regardless of language.

The Chivas-America game even outdrew the Boston-Houston matchup in the NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC among viewers 18-49.

Saturday's opening MLS game on Univision -- Houston-Atlanta United -- drew 469,000 viewers, of which 35 percent were non-Hispanic viewers.

That viewership was more than the most-viewed opening match on English-language television: Seattle-Los Angeles FC, which averaged 456,000 on ESPN.
