Paraguay calls up Atlanta United star Miguel Almiron for U.S. friendly game

Atlanta United star Miguel Almiron is among the players called up by Paraguay for its match against the USA March 27 in Cary, North Carolina.

Almiron, an MLS Best XI pick in its first season in MLS, has 12 caps for La Albirroja, which last faced the USA at the 2016 Copa Centenario, where the USA won, 1-0.

With Paraguay out of the World Cup, national team coordinator Gustavo Morinigo is serving as interim head coach, and he called up four uncapped players: goalkeeper Alfredo Aguilar, defender Luis de la Cruz, midfielder Richard Sanchez and forward Roberto Ovelar.

All but Ovelar, who plays for Millonarios in Colombia, are domestic-based players.
