World Cup Countdown: Russia-bound teams call up 19 MLS players

On the last FIFA window before teams must announce their squads for the 2018 World Cup, 19 MLS players are headed off to World Cup finalists for friendlies.

Costa Rica and Panama lead all teams with six MLS players each. The Ticos would have had seven MLS players in camp, but defender Ronald Matarrita was a late scratch after being injured again while playing for NYCFC in its 2-0 win over Orlando City.

Other candidates for World Cup 2018 teams who are injured: Uruguay's Nicolas Lodeiro (Seattle) and Mexico's Giovani dos Santos (LA Galaxy).

Update: Dos Santos' brother, Jonathan, also dropped out of the Mexico team because he is injured.

Expansion LAFC (off this week) leads all teams with four players.
