Of the 32 World Cup 2018 head coaches, one launched his coaching career in the USA — Mexico boss Juan Carlos Osorio, a native of Colombia who came to the USA in the mid-1980s. Afterplaying at Southern Connecticut State, Osorio served as an assistant coach of the A-League’s Staten Island Vipers and MLS’s MetroStars (now Red Bulls) before spending six seasons as Manchester Cityassistant coach.
