USL Weekend: Nashville SC aims for opening-day attendance record

Nashville SC, the new USL team that will move to MLS in 2020, should break the USL record for a team's largest crowd for its home-opener.

Calendar: USL, Week 2

It has already hit the 20,000 mark for Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Nissan Stadium, the home of the NFL's Titans.

The USL inaugural home opener attendance record is 20,231, set by Sacramento Republic in 2014. FC Cincinnati set the USL attendance record for home opener attendance with 23,144 fans for its first game in 2017, its second season in the league.

In anticipation of a large crowd, Nashville SC moved the opener from First Tennessee Park, the minor-league baseball stadium that will be its USL home.

In its debut, Nashville SC lost at defending champion Louisville City, 2-0.
