Minnesota United loses third starter as Finlay (torn ACL) out for the season

Minnesota United lost winger Ethan Finlay for the rest of the 2018 season when it confirmed that he will undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL of his right knee suffered in Sunday's match at Seattle.

Finlay is the third starting midfielder the Loons have lost. Winger Kevin Molino tore the ACL in his left knee at Orlando City on March 10 and defensive midfielder Sam Cronin has missed the start of the season with concussion symptoms.

Finlay suffered the injury when he collided with Sounders midfielder Alex Roldan late in the first half. He stayed in the game until halftime when he was subbed.

Finlay had three goals and three assists in 11 starts for Minnesota in 2017 after arriving from Columbus in August. Molino and Finlay are leading the Loons with two goals apiece in 2018.
