Women's World Cup Countdown: Germany picks Voss-Tecklenburg

German Martina Voss-Tecklenburg will take over as head coach of the Germany women's national team in September after finishing out Women's World Cup qualifying with Switzerland.

Interim boss Horst Hrubesch, recently hired to replace Steffi Jones, will stay on until Voss-Tecklenburg arrives.

A loss at home to Iceland has complicated Germany's path to the 2019 Women's World Cup in France. Germany has pulled ahead of Iceland in Europe's Group 5, but it has played one more game and still has to travel to Iceland.

Voss-Tecklenburg, who played 125 times for Germany and won four European Championships, has coached the Swiss since 2012. They are 5-0-0 in qualifying.
