Youth: U.S. boys and girls teams move on at Torneo delle Nazioni

The U.S. under-15 boys and under-16 girls national teams swept their first two games at the Torneo delle Nazioni being played in Italy and neighboring Slovenia.

The U-15s boys followed up on their 1-0 win over host Italy with a 2-0 win over Macedonia on goals by Selmir Music (Philadelphia Union academy) and Alex Monis(Chicago Fire academy) to clinch the group title and a berth in the semifinals. They wrap up group play on Friday against Croatia.



The U-16 girls followed up on their 8-0 win over Iran with a 5-0 win over Italy. Kailyn Dudukovich scored four goals against Iran, while Trinity Byars accounted for three against Italy. They complete group play against Slovenia on Saturday and then play in the championship game on Sunday.

Like many European youth tournaments, matches are played in small towns -- 10 in the northeastern part of Italy and four across the border in western Slovenia.
