Three of the four teams in Liga MX's Torneo Clausura semifinals suited up Americans -- Tijuana (Alejandro Guido
, Michael Orozco
and Rubio Rubin
), Santos (Jorge Villafana
and Club America (Joe Corona
) -- but only Guido, a late sub in Xolos' 2-1 win over Toluca, played in Thursday's first legs.
Guido, 24, is the only player who is not a U.S.
international. His 21 appearances in 2017-18 are more than double the number of games he played in his first six seasons at Tijuana.
Villafana started the first leg of the quarterfinals
at Tigres but has not played since for Santos, which beat Club America, 4-1, in the first leg of their semifinal series.
The second legs will be played on Sunday.
