USA to host resumption of U-17 Women's World Cup qualifying

Bradenton, Florida, will in June host the rest of the Women's Concacaf U-17 Championship, which was canceled in Nicaragua after three days of play because of deadly riots triggered by protests to changes in Nicaragua's social security payment systems.

The USA had played one game, a 4-0 win over Costa Rica on April 20, before the qualifying tournament for the 2018 U-17 World Cup was halted. The USA will resume Group B play against Bermuda June 6 and face Canada June 8.

While Group B teams completed only one game, Group A teams completed two and Mexico and Haiti already clinched passage to the semifinals. The two semifinal winners and the third-place game winner qualify for the World Cup in Uruguay (Nov. 13-Dec. 1).

Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Nicaragua have already been mathematically eliminated from semifinal qualification in Group A and will not rejoin the tournament.

All games will take place at the IMG Academy Stadium with the semifinals on June 10 and the third-place game and final June 12.
