World Cup Countdown: Brazil's Dani Alves out of with knee injury

Concerns in Brazil about what would the Selecao do if something happened to Dani Alves became a reality when the 35-year-old right back was ruled out of the World Cup with a knee injury,

Alves was injured in the 80th minute of the French Cup final Paris St. Germain won, 2-0, over Les Herbiers on Tuesday. He suffered a torn ACL and is expected to miss up to six month.

The announcement came three days before  Brazil coach Tite will name the World Cup roster.

Dani Alves is not the attacking threat he once was, but his experience and leadership were considered critical. The lack of depth at the position is considered a problem.

Danilo is not a first choice at Manchester City. Corinthians' Fagner is 29 with only four caps. Other names being mentioned to replace Alves are PSG teammate Marquinhos, a candidate to start at center back, Monaco's Fabinho and Bayern Munich's Rafinha.

Spare the tears for a 35 year old Alves. He's become an average player since 2016...he and Paulinho don't belong on the Brazil NT

...meanwhile, Naldo is still tearing it up in the Bundesliga at 35 yet only has 4 caps?  Are they lacking depth at CB too? Go figure.
