Youth: Indiana University striker shines for U.S. U-20s in Honduras

Justin Rennicks  scored twice in the U.S. U-20 national team's 3-0 friendly win over Honduras and assisted on Andrew Carleton's goal in a 3-1 loss two days earlier in San Pedro Sula.

Rennicks, a rising sophomore at Indiana University who played for New England Revolution Academy, was one of three collegians on Coach Tab Ramos' 21-player roster. Rennicks, who was limited to nine games off the bench because of injury during his freshman season at IU, has been a part of the U.S. youth national team program since getting called up by the U-14s, then coached by Hugo Perez, in 2013.

Carleton, an Atlanta United Homegrown signing, assisted on Rennicks' second goal in the 3-0 win and on Manny Perez's goal at the stroke of halftime.

Honduras finished runner-up to the USA in the 2017 Concacaf U-20 Championship final.

The U.S. U-20s (1999-born and younger), who are aiming to qualify for the 2019 U-20 World Cup, will reconvene in July in Raleigh, North Carolina.
