The Houston Dash lost midfielder
Kristie Mewis for the rest of the 2018 NWSL season with a knee injury.
She suffered a left knee sprain in the first half of Sunday's 3-2 win over
the Washington Spirit in Houston. She had scored two goals in her last three games after being moved back to midfielder from defender.
Mewis started every game for the Dash since being
acquired in a trade with the Chicago Red Stars for
Morgan Brian last August.
That trade came after she played one game with the Red Stars. In 2017, she was traded twice in nine
days and three times in nine months.
Mewis led her hometown Boston Breakers with six goals in 2015 but she only scored once in 2016 and was shipped to Washington in the massive deal that
also landed the Spirit the No. 1 spot in the allocation rankings that it used to sign
Mallory Pugh.
Mewis' 15 U.S. caps were all earned under
Tom Sermanni.
