USWNT: Ellis calls up four uncapped players for China series

U.S. women's national team coach Jill Ellis named four uncapped players, including first-year pro Casey Murphy based in France, among the 24 players on the preliminary roster for two friendly matches in June against China.

USA vs. China:
June 7 at Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah (FS1, 9 pm ET)
June 12 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland (ESPN2, 7 pm ET)

Murphy, who starred at Rutgers, played in the 2018 UEFA Women's Champions League for Montpellier, which finished third in France's first division. She was named to the D1 Feminine Best XI and the league's top goalkeeper. Other uncapped players called up were goalkeeper Abby Smith (Utah Royals) and a pair of defenders, Merritt Mathias (NC Courage) and Margaret Purce (Portland Thorns).

Back in the team is veteran forward Christen Press, who moved to Kopparbergs/Goteborg in Sweden.

Also back are 2015 World Cup veterans Tobin Heath, Julie Ertz and Amy Rodriguez and Sam Mewis, who have all been out with injuries.
