What They're Saying: Don Garber

“Putting the lawsuit aside, our people have met with the mayor and the head of the Columbus partnership as recently as a few weeks ago trying to see is there a way that team could stay in Columbus. Is there an ownership group that could come together and partner locally? Is there a stadium site that could be dramatically different that the one that they have now, which long-term is not sustainable? Is there a way the partnership can deliver the kind of corporate support that this team [FC Cincinnati] has playing in a lower division?”

-- MLS commissioner Don Garber on what Columbus needs so the Crew might stay in Ohio and give the Buckeye State two MLS  teams on a long-term basis. (WCPO)

He knows the answer to all three of those questions is yes.
He's talked to the ownership group already, they have offered free land downtown to build on, and all this is being fronted by the Columbus Partnership so corporate support is built in.
Why didn't he just retire this year like he said he would do!
