Youth: Big wins for U.S. U-20 women over Germany and Haiti

All's going well so far in the USA's at their dress rehearsal in France, host of the U-20 Women's World Cup in two months. Coach Jitka Klimkova's team opened the Tournoi Maurice Revello Sud Ladies Cup with a 3-0 win over Germany and followed up with a 7-0 win over Haiti.


During qualifying play for the U-20 World Cup, Haiti held the USA to a 1-1 tie before falling on penalty kicks. Haiti went on to qualify for the U-20 World Cup with a semifinal win over Canada.

Against the Germans, Abigail Kim gave the USA a 1-0 in the 3rd minute, Sophia Smith struck in the 26th, and Brianna Pinto nailed home a half-volley in 76th minute.

Against Haiti, Smith scored twice, Ashley Sanchez scored a hat trick, and Penelope Hocking and Viviana Villacorta wrapped up the scoring.

The USA faces host France on Sunday.
