Brazil firing on cylinders one week ahead of opener

Brazil's comfortable 3-0 win against Austria allayed fears about Neymar's fitness as the Selecao dazzled against a team that beat the world champion last week.

While Germany played dismally in a 2-1 friendly loss to Austria on June 2, the Coutinho-Willian-Neymar combination looked unstoppable against the Austrians on Sunday in Vienna -- with all goals from the run of play, by Gabriel Jesus, Neymar -- whose juke left an Austrian defender on the grass before stroking home -- and Coutinho.

On the defensive end, Brazil hasn’t conceded a goal since Oct. 11 of last year when it beat Japan 3-1. Besides a 0-0 tie with England, Brazil beat Russia (3-0), Germany (1-0) and Croatia (2-0).

Neymar made his return after a three-month injury layoff against Croatia and scored his 54th goal for Brazil. His brilliant strike against Austria moved him even with Romario on Brazil's all-time scorer's list.
