The victory earned the USA the Concacaf Women's U-17 Championship crown for the fourth time in six attempts since the biennial tournament launched in 2008. The USA also for the first time qualified for the U-17 World Cup back-to-back. Mexico has now qualified for the last five U-17 World Cups.

• The USA and Mexico also met in the final of the U-20 Concacaf Women's Championship, with Mexico winning on the penalty kick tiebreaker after a 1-1 tie.
In Tuesday's U-17 Concacaf final, Mexico took a lead on Dania Nicole Perez's penalty kick in the 32nd minute. Hannah Bebar equalized in the 34th and Sunshine Fontes scored her fifth goal of the tournament to give the USA a 2-1 lead until Nayeli Díaz, one of four Mexican-Americans in Mexico's squad, made it 2-2 on the stroke of halftime.
Doms, a 59th minute sub, scored the gamewinner in the 76th minute, assisted by Natalia Staude.
