What They're Saying: Richard Suttle

“There’s 10 other cities that would like to have a soccer team. They’re willing to put forward a lot of incentives to get one. If we have to wait for months to see if McKalla is going to work or not, then I think we have no other option but to look to other cities. The decision may not be made by Precourt. He wants to be in Austin. The decision may be made for him by the league.”

-- Richard Suttle, a lobbyist representing Precourt Sports Ventures, owner of the Columbus Crew, and MLS in negotiations with the city of Austin to find a venue for a soccer stadium that would serve as a home for an MLS team. He objects to a resolution to be put to the Austin city council on June 28 that calls for the city to solicit development plans for the McKalla Place site PSV wants to build on. In this one single statement, MLS throws Columbus, Austin, Precourt, any sense of community, and any city looking to legitimately get an expansion team, all under the bus.

Carpetbagging boondoggle extortionist techniques on full display.

You have to wonder if The Don actually authorized Suttle to expose this line of thought.
