Former U.S. U-16 Dillon Keane joins Stoke City academy program

Stoke City has signed 16-year-old American Dillon Keane to its first-year academy program.

Keane, who played for the U.S. under-16 national team last summer, left the San Jose Earthquakes academy program last fall to move to England. He had five goals in 11 games for the Quakes' U-16/17s in 2017-18. He played for Quakes teams for two seasons after starting out in the Development Academy at the De Anza Force.

He was one of 11 players Stoke City signed as first-year scholars. They included three from French club Amiens.

Good to see more American products going overseas to train and play. No changes within the Federation and youth development in the USA gives talented players no other option
