MLS suspends Mike Petke and fines him $10,000 for tirade, RSL gets same amount for tweets

Real Salt Lake coach Mike Petke had said he didn't mind -- well, he said it differently -- if MLS drained his bank account for his post-game tirade on Saturday, and sure enough, MLS fined him $10,000 for what the league described as "the use of abusive and profane language directed at officials and uncontrollable behavior when he was ejected from the game and for public criticism of officials during a post-game press conference."

In addition, MLS added a game to his one-game ban following his ejection from the match at Minnesota United, a 3-2 loss.

MLS also fined Real Salt Lake $10,000 for social media posts from the club’s official Twitter handle that endorsed and amplified Petke’s comments. A tweet since deleted said, "Preach, @mikepetke."

"Preach, Petke!" is the headline of RSL's YouTube video with Petke's post-game comments:

Nice reporting.  Coach Petke is standing up for his players and team.  Sometimes watching MLS we do see a very phyiscal game to the detriment of quality play.  Is is any surprise with a football guy leading?  Nice to see someone taking issue.

Sometimes watching MLS we see a very physical game?????  Watching MLS is like watching the demolation derby with cleats instead of cars.  Officiating is questionable at best and there is no consistency from one game to the next.

I have no problem with the coach standing up for his team.  IF you don't rattle the cage of MLS they will continue on.  Well they continue on anyway.
