A week after winning the U.S. Amateur Cup, the Milwaukee Bavarian SC won the United Premier Soccer League for the first time with a 3-2 win over Sporting AZ FC in the spring championship
final.

Scott Lorenz staked the 89-year-old club to a 3-0 lead, just enough, as it turned out.

Aguilar and scored for
Daniel Arrubla for Sporting AZ FC, which had made the third round of the 2018 U.S Open Cup.
“We played great in the first half but we were
obviously a little tired in the second, and were still able to hold on,” Bavarian SC coach
Patrick Hodgins said. “Full credit to Sporting AZ FC for storming back and making it tough
on us, they’re a deserving side.”
The Bavarians are the first team east of Nevada to win an UPSL title. The league, formed in 2011, has expanded rapidly in the last year after
starting out in Southern California.
