Philadelphia Union's Adam Najem headed to Kabul to play for Afghanistan

Philadelphia Union midfielder Adam Najem has accepted a call-up from the Afghanistan national team for its friendly against Palestine on Sunday.

Kabul will host the match to mark Afghanistan's Independence Day.

Najem, 23, starred at Akron and joined the Union in a trade with the New York Red Bulls for his Homegrown rights in 2017. He played five games for the Union in 2017 but has made all of his 14 appearances this season for its USL team, Bethlehem Steel.
