Pay streaming service ESPN+ grabs exclusive U.S. rights to English FA Cup

The English FA Cup -- one of the first international soccer events to be carried on American television when it aired on a one-week delay on ABC's Wide World of Sports -- will only be streamed to U.S. viewers.

The agreement will bring 79 FA Cup matches – from the first round in November to the final at Wembley Stadium in London – exclusively to ESPN+. The FA Community Shield, the season-opener between FA Cup and Premier League champions, and semifinals and final matches of the FA Youth Cup are also part of the deal.

Other content  -- FA Cup highlights shows, FA Cup preview shows and live coverage of the FA Cup draws -- will be featured across ESPN+ and other ESPN platforms.

The most recent deal with Fox Sports expired after the 2018 FA Cup final.

ESPN+ recently acquired the rights to Serie A, but that included a game of the week on one of ESPN's networks as well as coverage on ESPN Deportes.
