Toronto FC bans supporters group over Ottawa fire

Following an investigation into the fire that resulted from fireworks set off during Toronto FC's Canadian Championship match at the Ottawa Fury's TD Place Stadium in July, the MLS club has permanently banned the supporters group Inebriatti.

A blast was set off in the away section of TD Place Stadium, igniting a fire in the stands, and a flare was thrown onto the field. A photo of the fans wearing red ski masks and looking over the fire was published.

Inebriatti admitted in an email to TFC its members were responsible for smuggling the fireworks into the stadium -- which was confirmed by an investigation by the Ottawa Police Department and TFC into the incident.

Sanctions include ...

-- Termination of Inebriatti’s status as an official supporter group and all supporter group privileges;
-- Termination and refund of all Inebriatti seat accounts associated;
-- Prohibition of Inebriatti members from entering the south end supporters section of BMO Field until they have successfully completed the online MLS Fan Conduct Education Class at their own expense; and
-- Indefinite bans from BMO Field and MLSE-owned properties for Inebriatti members and other fans involved in the incident.
